St. Mary’s Medical Center has received an A safety rating from the Leapfrog Group, an independent, nonprofit watchdog organization that rates U.S. hospitals on quality and safety. It is the only Mesa County hospital to receive the highest possible safety rating and one of only 18 Colorado hospitals to receive an A. The score uses 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data and represents a hospital’s overall capacity to keep patients safe from preventable harm. The hospital also received the prestigious Top Teaching Hospital distinction from Leapfrog. St. Mary’s is one of only five Colorado hospitals and one of 108 hospitals nationwide to receive the designation.
